Deputy Principal News - Mrs Shiolan Ferrer
Hello P-2 Families,
Welcome to our P-2 EY Parent Newsletter for Term 3!
The information provided, helps to outline some of the fun and exciting things, that’s happening specifically for the Early Years sector of our school.
Each edition will be emailed to our P-2 parents during odd weeks of the calendar year.
100 Days of School/Prep
Last Friday, we celebrated 100 Days of School and in particular 100 Days of Prep. The effort placed into all the Prep outfits for this day, was a great effort by all students and Prep Families. See our Facebook page and photos attached.
Year 1 Play Space Project
Last term, our Year 1 teachers under the guidance of both Mrs. Potaire and Mrs. Hewish, helped in creating additional resources to be purchased for the Year 1 Play Space. These resources have helped our students in Year 1 have more toys to play with and have been put to good use, in Term 3.
Year 2 PLD
Our Year 2 Team has now had the opportunity to explore streaming PLD-Promoting Literacy Development into their simple synthetics program. This semester will look at consolidating students’ understanding with encoding and decoding their sounds, to help promote reading and literacy efficacy.
First Nations News- Barna Jarjum Projects
Next Monday 4th August, is Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Literacy Day and on the 9th of August- It is World International Indigenous Day. Our First Nations students have been working very hard across P-6, to establish Literacy-based activities linked to story-telling and enjoying time to read for pleasure.
QParents Platform – Action Required
Our school is transitioning to the QParents online platform. If you haven’t already done so, please ensure you create your account as soon as possible.
Families who are not registered on QParents will need to submit hard copies of permission slips and make in-person payments for excursions, camps, or incursions at the front office.
If you need help setting up your QParents account, our friendly Corporate Services staff are available to assist you.
Before and After School Pick-Up Reminders
We kindly ask that all parents wait in the Central Covered Area during before and after school pick-up times. This helps to reduce congestion in the Spine Area and ensures a safe and smooth transition for students.
If you have younger children with you, please supervise them closely at all times. A reminder that the Early Years playground is out of bounds during learning time. We appreciate the support of families who are helping us maintain a calm and focused learning environment by keeping younger children out of this space while classes are in session.
Term 3 is off to a fantastic start! Thank you to all our P–2 parents for your ongoing support of our Early Years sector.

What's On

BayView Values
Supporting Positive Behaviour Together
As we move through a busy term filled with assessment, reporting, and a variety of exciting celebrations, it's natural to see some changes in student behaviour, attitudes, and actions from time to time.
At BayView State School, we remain committed to the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) approach, promoting consistent expectations and reinforcing our school values across all year levels.
We encourage families to continue teaching and modelling our School Values at home. It’s always wonderful to hear parents using the same positive language during pick-ups and drop-offs—it makes a real difference!
When positive behaviours are modelled consistently, our students take notice, follow suit, and show pride in themselves and their school. Thank you for your continued support in working together to create a respectful and safe learning environment for all.
