Deputy Principal News, Mrs Ferrer (Prep-2) - Term 2, Week 5
Deputy Principal News - Mrs Shiolan Ferrer
Hello P-2 Families,
Welcome to our P-2 EY Parent Newsletter for Term 2!
The information provided, helps to outline some of the fun and exciting things, that’s happening specifically for the Early Years sector of our school.
Each edition will be emailed to our P-2 parents during odd weeks of the calendar year.
Our P-2 sector will be celebrating Under 8’s Week on the 23rd of May.
We are asking the support of our parent community, if families are willing to donate items, such as pipe cleaners, brown paper bags, playdough, coloured art beads, coloured streamers, glitter, bubble mixture, plastic cups; packets of coloured pens and felt pens.
There is a donation table at Corporate Services to place these items on to. Thank you to those who have already donated something to the table. Every donation helps to support our students have an exciting celebration.
Q Parents
Our school is moving into a Q Parent online platform. If you haven’t already done so, please ensure to create your accounts in this space, otherwise, for those not on Q Parents, hard copies of permission consent/payments for excursions, camps or incursions, will need to be collected from Corporate Services. If you require support in setting up Q Parents, please see our friendly Corporate Services Staff to assist you.
Before & After School Waiting Areas
We kindly ask all parents to wait in the Central Covered Area if picking up children before or after school. This helps reduce congestion in the spine area and ensures a smoother flow of movement for everyone.
If you have younger children with you, please ensure that they are supervised directly at all times. For safety and to avoid disruptions, the Early Years playground is out of bounds during school hours. We appreciate the parents who are already being mindful of this and ensuring that younger children are not in this space while classes are in session.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school environment safe and conducive to learning for all students.
Term 2 has started off strong, and we’re excited for the learning ahead! A big thank you to all our P-2 parents for your ongoing support of our Early Years sector. Your involvement and encouragement make a world of difference in our students’ success, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.

Prep News
Prep Students’ Progress & Exciting New Resources
Our Prep students have been making great strides in adapting to school life, and we’re thrilled to see how successful their Term 1 has been. They’ve shown enthusiasm and dedication in their learning, and it’s been a pleasure to watch them grow.
Over the next few weeks, our Prep students will continue to build on their learning through the Structured Synthetic Phonics Program. This approach will further strengthen their reading and writing skills, laying a solid foundation for their literacy development.
In addition to the progress in the classroom, we are excited to share that our school has invested in more decodable online readers for the Early Years sector. These new resources will support our students in developing their reading skills and foster a love for literacy. By incorporating these engaging tools into their learning, we aim to enhance their understanding of phonics and help them become confident readers.
We’re excited to see our Prep students continue to thrive and look forward to even more growth in the upcoming term!

Year 1 & 2 News
Year 1 & Year 2 Update
Our Year 1 students have been enthusiastically developing their report writing skills. Using their growing knowledge about different animals, they’ve been learning how to label and describe specific features. It’s been wonderful to see them actively researching and applying key elements of information texts in their writing.
Our Year 2 students have been adjusting well to the new streamed learning approach through our Structured Synthetic Phonics Program. Many students have shared positive feedback, with one of the most common reflections being how well the work aligns with their individual pace and level of understanding.
To support your child’s learning at home, we encourage families across the P–2 sector to set aside time for reading. This can include books, catalogues, newspaper articles, recipes, or any form of environmental print. Every reading opportunity helps build fluency and a love for literacy!

BayView Values
As we work together to support our students, it’s crucial that we continue to model and reinforce our school values both at school and at home. Our students look to us—teachers, parents, and community members—as role models for the behaviours and attitudes we want to nurture in them.
