Deputy Principal News - Mrs Shiolan Ferrer

Hello P-2 Families,

Welcome to our P-2 EY Parent Newsletter for Term 2!

The information provided, helps to outline some of the fun and exciting things, that’s happening specifically for the Early Years sector of our school.

Each edition will be emailed to our P-2 parents during odd weeks of the calendar year.

Our P-2 sector will be celebrating Under 8’s Week on the 23rd of May.

We are asking the support of our parent community, if families are willing to donate items, such as pipe cleaners, brown paper bags, playdough, coloured art beads, coloured streamers, glitter, bubble mixture, plastic cups; packets of coloured pens and felt pens.

There is a donation table at Corporate Services to place these items on to. Thank you to those who have already donated something to the table. Every donation helps to support our students have an exciting celebration.

Q Parents

Our school is moving into a Q Parent online platform. If you haven’t already done so, please ensure to create your accounts in this space, otherwise, for those not on Q Parents, hard copies of permission consent/payments for excursions, camps or incursions, will need to be collected from Corporate Services. If you require support in setting up Q Parents, please see our friendly Corporate Services Staff to assist you.

Before & After School Waiting Areas

Can all parents, please ensure to wait in the Central Covered Area if waiting for before or after school pick-ups. Doing so, ensures lessening congestion in the spine area. If you have younger children, please ensure to supervise directly. The Early Years playground is also out bounds, during learning time. Thank you to the parents who are making sure, not to take younger children in this space, as classes are still occurring and we are mindful not disturb the students’ learning.

Term 2 has kick started to a great start. Thank you to all our P-2 Parents for your continued support of our Early Years Sector!

Prep News

Our Prep students are going strong having adapted to school life and having a successful Term 1.

During the course of the next few weeks, our Prep students will continue working on their Structured Synthetics Learning.

As a school, we have also invested in purchasing more decodable online readers for our Early Years sector, to build the foundations of reading and improving on students’ literacy skills!

Year 1 & 2 News

Our Year 1 & 2 students are busily working a number of activities linked to working towards their formative assessments in key learning areas linked to English and Maths.

Our Year 2 team are presently working on streaming classes across the Year 2 cohort, for Literacy Block, aiming to provide a multi-tiered system of support and deepening explicit instruction around reading and improving literacy skills in all our students.

Both these year levels are also engaging in Plays is the Way - an interactive and collaborative approach to working on problem-solving, working as a team and building resilience and strategies around conflict-resolution. Ultimately increasing students’ abilities to communicate and resolve issues, in a respectable and appropriate manner.
